Which active ingredients are found in hops?

8-PN, the most powerful phytestrogen known today

The estrogenic activity of hops has been extensively studied since its discovery. Several molecules extracted from hops have been studied for their estrogenic powers in order to identify which ones are active.

Studies conducted over the last ten years have revealed the link between the estrogenic activity of hops and the plant's 8-prenylnaringenin (8-PN) content. This molecule, in the prenylflavonoid family, is the most active phytoestrogen known today.

Based on these discoveries, Naturex developed Lifenol®, an extract from the female cones of hops rich in 8-PN.
